The boys were at grandma's house yesterday. She walked them all the way to uncle Mike's house! Casey fell going up the hill but otherwise is sounded like they had a great adventure. Over the highway, PP & J sandwiches, ice cream sandwiches, uncle Mike and a bunch of questions later (why? why? why?) , they had a great time.

We celebrated Shane's communion this weekend. The boys were well behaved in church and we all had a great time at the party. It was great to see our new cousin Madeline!

As we were walking in the hall Sean said “Look at all the big boys mommy. I'm a big boy too!"

Casey loved "Bob". Bob is our class mascot. He is a real skeleton. When I told Casey his name he gently took Bob's hand, shook it and said "nice to meet you Bob".

The boys ate lunch from their Lightening McQueen lunch boxes for the first time. They were all very excited. I think they are ready for HS already! Great job today Ryan, Casey and Sean! I loved having you in school today!!!!

Santa Train Ride 11/27/09

Today we went to see Santa on the train. We got on at the local station and had a blast. We were all so excited to see Santa but when he sat down with us Ryan, Casey and Sean all migrated to the other side of the seat. Sean hid his face from Santa but came around and loved him by the time the ride was over. Ryan and Casey were both scared but came around and gave high-fives to both Santa and Frosty. Grandma was sick so she couldn't come but Dad, Mom, terry and Katy all enjoyed the day.

Sean was talking in his sleep that night and was telling Santa he wanted a big dig for Christmas.

I was looking at some blogs today and stumpled upon this story by another triplet mom. Tears running down my face as I neared the end of this "story" of hers. I think tonight before I put the kids in bed, I'll let them all sit on my lap and we can read a story together. So precious are the moments I have with them while they are young and still WANT me around...

"I just wanted to share a perspective on the wonderful gift of motherhood.Back in 1988, the book Love You Forever, by Robert Munsch hit the bestseller list for the first time. That was the year my son was born and the year I bought my copy. Without exaggerating, I believe I must have read that book a thousand times since then. Already having had one child, I was beginning to see how quickly kids grow. That book holds a very special place in my heart.When I first read that to my older kids, it seemed a little creepy to me that the mom would drive across town and crawl into her grown son’s room so she could rock him while he slept. Now, it seems I’ve become that creepy mom. No, I won’t really stalk my adult-children, but I can fully relate to sentiment. If I could, and I thought I could get away with it, I’d get in my car and go rock each one of my children to sleep. Tonight, even.Time passes. We blink and our children are celebrating yet another birthday. Sometimes the most precious moments we get to experience as moms get shuffled in with the day-to-day obligations and are forgotten.I wrote this for my older children, who turned from babies into adults when I wasn’t looking:I remember the first time I cradled you in my arms, but I can’t remember the last. Guess I always figured there’d be a next. If I had known it would be the last time, I’d have taken time to breathe in the sweet smell of your skin and hair, feel the heavenly warm weight of your little body in my arms. I’d have tried to burn that feeling – that image – into my brain, my heart, my soul.When was the very last time I carried you to bed, tucked you in and kissed you goodnight? I wish I could remember. If only I could have known it would be the very last time, I’d have curled up next to you to on your bed, watched the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest, and let myself be lulled to sleep by the sweet sounds of your gentle slumber.I can never forget the very first time I rocked you in my arms and sang to you – Hush Little Baby. I love fuzzy little legs. When my kids sit on my lap, I am tickled to see the golden peach fuzz on their legs. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it screams innocence.And toys. You’ll miss toys – even when they’re scattered all over the floor. Because when the toys go away, so does a lot of the magic of childhood.You'll also miss pushing your kids on a swing: The day Angus learned to swing by himself was one of the sweetest, saddest days of my life. I can’t believe the way my emotions tugged at me in two totally different directions at the same time. I was thrilled that my boy had mastered one of the greatest joys in childhood. My little boy had grown wings. I still remember that feeling from my own childhood when I thought that I could touch the clouds with my feet if I only could only swing high enough. But even as I was thrilled for Angus, an equal part of me was sad. I knew it was the end of “Push me, Mommy.”To be completely honest, the end of the “push me, Mommy” stage for my triplets held a different meaning. I’m sure I was quite a sight on the public playgrounds, running the gauntlet between three different swings – each swing with the potential to send me flying into a face-full of rubber mulch. I was a bit more relieved when they learned to swing on their own. But there is still a twinge of sadness there, too. Sadness because my babies don’t need me for that anymore.You’ll also miss hearing “Mommy, look at me!” and “Mommy, do you know what?” and “Mommy, I want that!” Basically just the constant chitter-chatter of your little ones. This one’s a biggy for me. My kids are huge talkers. When my older kids were younger, I used to kid with them that God gave them each a certain amount of words and if they used them up, they’d never be able to speak again. But, even the sweetest, chattiest child turns into a teenager who will seem to have lost all ability to communicate, resorting to one-word sentences, body language, grunts and clicks. Trust me when I say, you’ll miss your chatter-box.I guess what I’m getting at is that it all goes by so quickly. Don’t forget what a gift motherhood really is. The real gift of motherhood is in the tiny things – in the actual mothering.So, when your little one begs, “Pick me up, Mommy,” pick her up and whisper in her ear that she is the most precious little girl in the whole world. Make it your little secret. A confidence. Someday, when she’s grown, she’ll give you a call when she’s down and say, “Pick me up, Mom” and you’ll share a funny story to make her smile, and you’ll tell her that she is the most precious girl in the whole world.When she says, “Watch me, Mommy,” watch her. We Did It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We moved to big boys beds in October and we couldn't be happier! The boys LOVE the beds and are excited about going to bed. If I knew it was going to be this good I would have done it weeks ago. We were planning to make the transition over the holiday break but Sean took a header out of the crib and landed on his head on the baseboard. That was the deciding factor about moving up the date. Well, that and the fact that they would yell "crib hopping" and run up the stairs and jump form crib to crib. These are the last pictures taken of them in their cribs. I have to admit I got a bit teary-eyed. Wow, to think that they were 3 month premature. We have come a long way.

An hour and a half after I put them down for a nap I had to get Ryan and Sean and bring them downstairs. As Ryan was climbing down the stairs he turned around and said to Casey, as if Casey could hear him, "bye bye Casey, I'll see you later." He had the most concerned look on his face. He proceeded to tell me that Casey was sleeping. It is the sweet, tender moments like this that fill me with joy.

a heart condition, says "Yes." They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying "Yes" to his son's request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, "Dad, let's join the Ironman together."To which, his father said "Yes." For those who didn't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island. Ryan started putting together 3 word sentences yesterday! He sa "okay, I'm coming" and "get out of the way, I go to Gama's house". It is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen!

He flips on command! He is a bundle of energy and just full of life.

Casey has the funniest facial expressions. He can tell a story without saying a word.

All three pretend they are driving and move their arms like they are turning a wheel of a car and say "I driving. I going Gama's house" then they pretend to hit the horn and say "get out the way, I going to Gama's house" It is so cute. I'm going to try to capture it on tape and post it.

Sean went pee pee in the potty today! All the kids were outside with their potty. I was trying to get them to realize they had control over their bodily functions. We were talking to their pee pee's and would yell "go pee pee, go" and all of a sudden Sean went! It was such a surprise to him that he got scared but after he got over it he kept running around yelling "go pee pee go" and it did. It went on the deck 3-4 times, on the dog and on the kitchen floor. Casey wanted to go so bad he kept crouching down, spreading his legs and pointing at his pee pee saying " go pee, go". He was so funny. He sat on the potty for a long time but it was just not his night. Ryan stood by it for a long time but had no luck. He looked like he felt cool just hanging out over the potty.

We had a geat Memorial Day!

The boy's and I went to our first parade together! We had great seats 3 blocks from grandma house. They loved seeing all the people. We waved very large maple tree leaves (we left the flags at home) at all the people in the parade. They loved when the kids in the parade brought them over candy. They don't know what candy is yet so I think they thought they were giving them toys. Anyway, they loved it.

We then went to Starbucks where we ran into another triplet family. They were 10 yrs old and loved playing with Ryan, Casey and Sean. We then walked home ( about 3 miles round trip), Ryan fell asleep in the choo choo. The poor thing, his head kept bobbling the entire way home. I put my bag on his lap so he wouldn't bang his head on the wagon.

I transferred all the boy's (with Howie's help) into their cribs then picked up grandma and ran to BJs. How is it possible to spend 500.00 a month there and 500.00 a month at walmart. I don't know how I do it but I do! lol

Then I ran home unloaded the car, stocked 2 refrigerators and 1 freezer, dressed the boys and went back to Grandma's for a BBQ. Howie was not feeling well. I think he is really tried. Last week was long. We had dinner with Great Grandma, Grandma, Pop-pop, Aunt Ellie, Uncle Paul and Uncle Dave. Ryan sat on Grandpa's lap through dinner. I don't think GP got anything to eat. Ryan ate everything on his plate-poor pop-pop! ;)Sean sat on Great Grandma's lap and enjoyed dessert with her. Casey sat with me and ate. He really thinks he would enjoy coffee if he every had the opportunity to get his hands on a cup. Grandma did all the work as usual. The kids just love spending time with her. Mike and Jessica came by later. It was a very very nice day.

The Infertility Awareness Project

As Mother's Day is tomorrow, I feel the need to pray for couples who are experiencing infertility. My triplets were born 10 years and one month after my husband and I were married. I waited a long time and it was the hardest time of my life. I am so thankful for my gifts. I look at them in amazement everyday and never forget how thankful I am that I was chosen for them. I send my strength and prayers to those who are dealing with this.

Looking forward to Mother's Day

I am looking forward to my second Mother's Day. This is a very special day for me and my family. The only thing I would like to do is to take the boy's out for ice cream! Sounds like so much fun!
When I came home from work (9:15 pm---started at 7:30, but I am currently working on graduate courses so it is OK) Ryan was crying. Howie had washed their blankets but forgot to dry them. It threw everything off so much so that poor Ryan was sobbing when I went up to get him. Casey was up but he was entertaining himself with his feet and Sean was asleep belly down, one hand on his flashlight and the other on a book. I held R and C for a long time. They have this funny thing they do...they dig their nail into my skin. They do it when they are reading, they do it when they are drinking their bottles, they will be running around and stop, grab my hand and dig their nails into it. It doesn't really hurt it is just a funny habit. Anyway, I put casey into his crib and he reluctantly put his head on his pillow and with with blanket he was very happy. Ryan wanted to be put down, he was reaching for his crib when he saw his pillow and blanket magically appeared. I sat on the floor with one hand in one crib and one in the other so they could both dig their nails into my fingers!

My Support System

I need to thank all the people who helped get us through the pregnancy and first year. We have been blessed with the most supportive group of loving, caring people anyone could ever ask for. My mother, my sister Eileen and my childhood friend Dawn were my rocks during the good and the bad.
In addition I am blessed with some friends that have become family. Terry, Anne and Katie have become such an important part of our family. These are some of the most caring people I have ever met.

5/4/08 Almost 21 months!

Tomorrow they boy's will be 21 months!
We went to great grandma's house today for a visit. She was so surprised how big they are. They ran into the backyard as she sat on the deck. What a surprise. They proceeded to eat all of her grapes (no surprise as they are their favorite snack). U Dave come over and the 6 of us (pop-pop too) had a great time. We then proceeded to grandma's house where we ate dinner and once again left her with a mess. --thanks grandma and grandpa
Casey-
So much fun. Big, big smiles.
Ryan-
Ryan needs to choose where he wants to sit in the car. No one else cares (thank god) but it is a big deal to him. He also has to have Sean's and Casey's cup , plate, snack, shirt and pants. I think he is the only 21 month old that will tell you what will tell you what he will and will not wear. Ryan always wants to be with his brothers. He is very concerned for them and looks out for them.

Most definately his own man. He repeats everything you say.

Our babies were born on Aug 5, 2006.
Casey was born first at 3.2 lbs

Then came Ryan 3.1 lbs
Then came Sean at 3.3 lbs

The following is a list of issues they all overcame. They are true fighters.

-10 weeks premature

-holes in thier hearts

-caffine to help them remember to breathe

-brady's
-Casey had a spinal tap. They thought he had an infection in his brain. The tests came back negative.

The birth of our triplets

I am writing the story of our three miracles 20 months after they were born. The past year and a half of our lives has by far been filled with joy and happiness. It has also been filled with more coffee then I ever thought could be consumed by two people.

We found out we were prego in Jan of 06. It was what I thought would be the most exciting day of our lives being that we had waited a long time for such good news. As I enjoyed the next few weeks I began to feel stretching pains in my belly but I was told there was no way I would feel it already. I wrote it off as just part of the excitement. As the day for our first ultrasound came near I began to get more excited. I was feeling some discomfort so I thought there could be that slim chance of twins. As Howie and I got ready for the exam I tried to prepare him for the possibility of two babies. I don't think it ever crossed his mind prior to our conversation and he dismissed the idea right away. I think he was very nervous.

As the doctor began the ultrasound, Howie stood by my side holding my hand. I immediately saw two sacks. I began to cry but held back as much as I could until the doctors confirmed it. As we waited for some information one doctor looked up at us and told us they were going to take some pictures and then talk to us. That is when I knew it was twins! After the extensive discussion between the doctors they began to explain what we were seeing on the screen. She pointed to one sack and said "Do you see that flicker? That is a heartbeat. " Poor Howie, he was trying so hard to see the "flicker" that he was unable to process what come next. As the doctor moved to the next sack she once again said, "Do you see that flicker? That is another heartbeat." With that I began to cry. Then, to my surprise she remained in the first sack but just moved the mouse over a bit and said, Do you see that flicker? That is another heartbeat." Well, let me tell you the emotions that came pouring out of me. Never did I expect that. I couldn't hear anything the doctor said for about 2 minutes after that but when I was able to listen again the only thing I heard was Howie saying "What are you telling me? We are having two babies?" and for the next 60 seconds I watched him try to grasp the concept of TRIPLETS. I took the doctors 3 time of pointing out three heartbeats for Howie to begin to process it. He kept asking how it was possible. When the doctors walked out of the room he still couldn't grasp it. We both looked at each other in shock. This was the best day of my life. February 14, 2006. I love you Howie and I love our 3 little miracles. Thank you!

The pregnancy went well for the first 24 weeks. I had very little morning sickness (actually, it was evening sickness). It would last for no more then 2 minutes and it was fast and furious.
